At Last

by Brook   Aug 18, 2011

You said can we talk,
I knew what that meant,
You said your part
and away you went
Taking all my love,
my dreams as well,
You left with the devil,
put me through hell,
She was so pretty
with her sly little grin
This was a battle,
I was not to win
So I smiled politely
and waved goodbye,
Holding back the tears,
Refusing to cry
I slid down the wall
And sat on the floor,
You made it clear;
you loved me no more,
You had everything
I had to give
I found no reason
for me to live
So I grabbed the gun
with no second thought
I pulled the trigger;
peace I sought,
The blood so warm,
it cradled me so,
At last I was free,
your love I let go.
