My Daddy Hates You

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Aug 22, 2011

You ride a skateboard
Wear skulls on your shirt
Black hair with a red highlight
Covering your dark eyes
Rocks out with your heavy metal band
Shoot zombies all night long
Kicked out when you were sixteen
Living with a bunch of drop out freaks
You're nineteen now, I'm fifteen
That's four years in between
Was expelled from high school
And didn't even think to go to college

My dad graduated from Harvard
Pre-law with a fancy suit
Top lawyer of his firm
Makes $30K per month
He thinks you have no future
Should go to school; get some education
But I don't care; I'm into you
There's nothing my dad can do

So he breaks your skateboard
Ripped up your favorite shirt
Took my cellphone and my laptop
So there's no way to communicate
Got you kicked out of the house
Tried to put you in jail
Grounded me for four months
But nothing can stop us

Romeo and Juliet story
Young but desperate for each other
Sneak out every night
So, even for a minute, you can hold me tight
He so doesn't approve of us
But I don't give a flying saucer
My daddy says it's a phase
Maybe one day, we'll run away together
