I Remember

by believeinlove87   Aug 22, 2011

I remember,
the mornings smelled like coffee,
the afternoons smelled like cookies,
and the nights smelled like your perfume.

I remember,
the way you spent hours in the bathroom,
on your long flowing beautiful red hair,
how your nails were always to perfection,
the way you stuck your tongue at me laughing,
how you'd do my makeup,
saying how is my baby girl so beautiful,
and I'd say,
because i look exactly like you.

I remember,
spending hours at the mall shopping,
you refused to leave until i bought something,
I'd argue with you saying i don't need anything,
but you being stubborn as a mule,
you wouldn't budge,
and I'd crack up saying fine you win,
seeing a smile grow across your face.

I remember,
getting our pictures done together,
you telling them not to much makeup on her,
looking back flashing this million dollar smile,
I'd giggle loving how you're my mom,
i always told you,
I'd never trade you in for the world,
that your mine whether you like it or not.

I remember,
choking on a lifesaver,
you giving me the heimlich maneuver,
bursting into tears glad you were there,
you wiping my tears away,
embracing me in a huge comforting hug.

I remember,
our stupid fights,
you screaming you can do better off without me or dad,
me yelling back then go do it,
as i slam the door so hard the house shakes,
you running upstairs yelling at me,
as i sit there tears flowing out my eyes.

I remember,
the good memories,
as well as the bad,
you sober,
you messed up on drugs,
regardless of what happened,
i never wished for a different mom.

I remember,
pretty much everything,
everybody loved you,
all my friends envied me,
because they wanted you as there mom,
I'd laugh saying sorry i don't share,
how the things I'd say you'd cry from laughing so hard,
telling me to cuss out the people who stare.

I remember,
the mornings smelled like coffee,
the afternoons smelled like cookies,
and the nights smelled like your perfume.

But what i remember most,
is you kissing me goodnight,
telling me i love you repeatedly i got sick of hearing it,
is your soothing voice,
your beautiful face,
is that you're my mom.
