Slow it Down

by ntv650   Aug 25, 2011

It is only a wink, a genuine smile
That captures the moment with equal
Neatness as a thread of silk
Passing through a needle's eye.

It is an anchor in this temporal river,
Cast only occasionally and only by chance;
Perhaps a reminder that you are the only one
Who can make this world slow down.

That tides should swim against you,
That I should always find you tired,
These things explain the sweetness
When you actually smile.

But I'd rather be an arsehole,
Who blows out candles;
Blowing out the wishes
Of people who have dreamed.
Than imagine my death-bed ridden
With selfish acts and regrets.

So, I offer you realistic promises
To replace the aches of loneliness.
That plague you, once plagued me.
I shall be a Samson, a nazarite
That never believed in God.

But I believe in your happiness,
And your every individual sadness.
They will become my philistines,
And I will bring their roof crashing down.
If only you will take my world,
And slow it down.

    I really liked your detailed discription because it portrays a vivid image. I also think that this piece flows really well and that the emotions are strong. The last stanza was my favorite part but I'd recommend you to remove those blank lines because they are somewhat irritating (the ones after the fifth stanza).
