Fairytale Love

I told you I was in love.
You laughed and said it was impossible.
My Prince Charming was really a Princess.
You thought I was confused, and didn't know
what I could lose.

I told myself I'd prove you wrong.
Show you a same-sex relationship is just as strong.
She can do anything that he can do.
She loves, cares, and provides for me too.

No one said we had to go according to plan.
Not every girl needs a man.
Our happiness is all that matters.
Why do you want to see it shatter?

So what if my Romeo is really a Juliet?
At least we both benefit.
Fairytale endings are unrealistic.
They seem so cryptic.

Love sees no shape, size, color, or gender.
Chances of finding your soul mate is slender.
Why does the sex have to be specific?
Loving a girl isn't horrific.

If my life was a fairytale,
There would be no normal happy ending .
No prince to save the day.
Better yet, a princess to make things okay.

So maybe I'm into Beauty,
And not so much the Beast.
No one said we had to stick to the plan.
This proves not every woman needs a man.
