Woodland

by Aerie Gerard   Aug 29, 2011

You're mom and dad are always gonna want to set your path.
But you're a rebellious teenage girl, and you're always gonna have wrath.
So you're gonna want to drift away from what your parents say.
You're always gonna want to run and run until you find your own way.

Theres always gonna be a beanstalk youre gonna want to climb,
Until you reach the top and discover things you didnt mean to find.
Theres gonna always be that giant that youre gonna need to kill,
But youre all alone now, so its your own strength and your will.

Theres always gonna be a wolf tempting you to stop and smell the rose,
Youre mother always said "Stay on track" but all of the world knows,
You can always get to that destination one time or another,
But one day youre gonna have to stray from good old father and mother.

Theres always gonna be a witch ready to cast her curse,
And set you on the life you hate and nothing could be worse.
But just remember now that the only one who says what you will do,
Isnt any wolf, giant, or witch, because its only You.

So go along your life and dont stay in the woods too long,
Have a moment, one, or two, but always have a song.
Keep in mind that it doesnt matter where you go,
Its the places you see and the people you know.
