A Hero's Love.

by livefreebright   Aug 29, 2011

Their eyes had met briefly
Since he ended things with her.
She must have felt his eyes burning;
If anything happens to you.....
This isnt a choice you can make alone.

He reminded himself that this would not,
Could not, be her fate.

He wouldn t make promises;
No goodbyes.

She stood there waiting helplessly,
And he did not resist her.
She pressed her lips firmly to his,
Guiding his waist closer.

She was too close; this was too much.
He placed his index finger upon her quivering lip
To silence her.
Around the curves of her cheeks;
Down her throat to the shoulder.
He couldn t leave any other way.

The hero always gets the girl,
But what if the villain gets her first?

There were other people; thousands of other people
Here there was only her
For him, there was only her
And he felt horribly selfish
For such a thing.

She s no good if shes
Dead; Theyll torture her.
Its me, I m alive.
He questioned it.

Her face was more pained than ever;
More crazed with terror and conflict,
More pale yet boiling,
More controlled yet contorted.
Maybe everyone he knew
Was better off dead.

He couldn t think that.
He needed her now more than ever;
He needed her to wake
To breathe; to smile.
He needed her forever.

He saw those familiar eyes;
Sad, timid, yet alive.
He was fighting for love
He never planned to.
Now she was in the center
Of danger. An inevitable death.

He s given up; He doesn t want this.
I m sorry, Nattily.
I should have known this would happen.
No goodbyes.

He was fighting for love; for only her.
She was the only thing that could save him.
