The Scryer Of Pompeii By Mark Spencer He was once very popular, And respected in his day. A man of divine prophesy, Called the Scryer of Pompeii. For his accurate predictions, His legend began to spread. But dark events would soon unfold, For disaster loomed ahead. He lost all credibility, When his prophesy was shared. Vesuvius will pose no threat, Pompeii's citizens declared. He warned of great calamity, Which the land would not survive. Pompeii and Herculaneum, Would soon be buried alive. But within these wealthy cities, The people refused to flee. The Scryer would face punishment, For his cunning trickery. He was thrown into the dungeon, In confinement he would wait, For his prophecy's fulfillment, As the cities met their fate. When the land began to rumble, He said judgment day is nigh. Then Vesuvius exploded, Belching ash into the sky. As fire and brimstone fell to earth, He dropped to his knees and prayed. But no redemption could be found, For the people of Pompeii. They chose to ignore his warnings, Ridiculed his prophesy, And because of that decision, They embraced their destiny. Buried beneath a sea of ash, In seventy nine A.D. They would not see the sun again, 'Til the nineteenth century. It was an eerie sight to see, The archeologists observed. Unearthing all those ancient ghosts, Time kept perfectly preserved. They discovered, in a dungeon, A figure, kneeling to pray. A man of divine prophesy, Called the Scryer of Pompeii.
