Don't Write

by Melissa   Aug 30, 2011

I don't care if you write,
who needs to prattle about
in polite cliches, anyway

they only make me feel feverish
like I've swallowed a flame
that exhausts every emotion, until I
pop, like an ember
that would rather snuff out
than burn in your presence

Very interesting, Don't Write..I thought it was just very impressive, and perhaps I relate, in a way and another.

I love how you managed to elaborate the title the way you did, loved how you opened the poem by being direct about the way you feel regarding his writing, which you hinted about in the title, just very catchy..

then the irony in your 2nd line, who needs to prattle about in polite cliches..anyway, so very interesting Melissa..you're kind of making fun of what he writes when he does, underestimation perhaps ?

And I was fond of the way you mentioned feverish, that can't be bad, or good (for me) is it that they piss you off enough, make you sick, orrrrr put your emotions on fire!

Anyway what I liked more while trying to analyze is how his writings put you fire till you "pop like an ember" my god what an image..
    Well done!

they only make me feel feverish,

the comma here, is really bothering read it like 5 times and when I tried to eliminate the comma in my imagination this way

they only make me feel feverish
    like I've swallowed a flame
that exhausts every emotion, until I

^ flows better as one part..

    that would rather snuff out
    than burn in your presence

anyway that line...of better being snuffed out than burning in his presence answered my question mark regarding the sign behind "feverish"

    applause, perfect piece
