Under My Covers

by Jaymi Lynn   Sep 1, 2011

Under cotton and chaos is
Where I choose to lay my head.
Soft silks wrestle with my thighs and
Pillows harmonize with the roots of my hair.

Underneath air is where fantasies can live.
Women bare handsome sons of my age
And I take them as my own and I am
Recognized by them as beautiful and unique.

'Tween white and black sheets is where
Little girls join their mother, the moon,
In the burning blue light that outshines my skin
And dims my eyes.

Under cotton and chaos lies my heart's content and
Underneath air is where time can be bent.
'Tween white and black sheets is where my eyes grow dim
from a burning blue light that pales my skin.

...And this is where I choose to lay my head.
