The Helton Mansion Mystery

by Sigoney Holder   Sep 1, 2011

Red silk sheets lay upon a gold plated bed

Huge square sparkling windows hide behind velvet curtains

Hard wooden floors glisten with a brown finish

An ancient Victorian lampshade dangles from the never ending ceiling

A handsome tall gentleman stares at me from behind a dusty bronze forgotten portrait

An out of place grandfather clock chimes stating his authority

Behind two daunting doors there are centuries of secrets and lies

In front of them are two green devious watching eyes

Long stairs out in the atrium that winds on forever

Red Egyptian cottoned carpets spread out like Pharaohs on each floor

Gargoyles guard the gardens which hide away in all its green mysterious glory

There I stand in the parlor

Wearing a long, silk, velvet, green dress that I do not remember owning

My black hair is tied up behind my ears which sting from it's sensation

My brown soft skin shivering out of place in this strange existence

My unfamiliar brown eyes flash taking in all that is around me

My dark tight lips are trembling, aching for an unknown simple wish; my first kiss

Sounds all around me; banging, echoing and screaming

All my senses are heightened and on edge

Until

An extraordinary feeling floods over me

A cold, dark, mystifying presence is breathing right behind me

I slowly turn around in a hope that I will awake from this menacing dream

There stands in front of me a tall charming man with dead black eyes

My throat closes up squeezing my scream

But strangely the softness of his looks paralyzes me

I make no attempt to run

He says no words

Steps forward

Wraps his cold hands around my neck

Then brings his face closer until I can feel his icy breath singe my neck

Before I can struggle to get away he burrows his razor sharp teeth within my skin

A loud scream finally escapes me

From feeling the antagonizing pain

The noise is unbearable as he slurps, drinking the blood that is now leaking out of me

After a while he then lets go as I fall to the floor

Unconscious

Was I dead?

Suddenly I awake to find myself in his arms which makes me feel unfamiliarly warm and safe

Something has changed and I get the urge to touch my mouth and to my horror I feel around to find razor sharp teeth

He turns to me and strokes my hair, his black eyes burn within mine

And just for a second I take a chance and bring my now blood thirsty dark lips towards his

And in a moment of shear passion I forget who I am

While I was in this extraordinary Ecstasy I had images of police dogs and villagers scowling the place searching for someone

And in their hands they carried boring torches and a familiar man is there with tears running down his face

I awake again only to find me and him gone

And all that is left is a picture with the words "Missing Girl".
