Another year has gone by.
old age will soon catch up
The past memories get older,
while new memories still grow.

It should be a celebration,
but there's a gloomy shadow
that lurks and lingers around,
overshadowing the excitement.

The idea of planning a party
makes the day sound like work.
Sometimes we can't deny -
the feeling of wanting to be alone.

There's something mystical
about the annual birthday.
Yet, something about it sends
a cold, bitter feeling to oneself.

Looking back at an extra wasted year,
noticing the longing and unfulfilled life,
How has time passed so quickly?
Time appears to fly faster than a falcon.

Turning twenty-one is supposed to be special,
but to me - it's just like any other typical day.

Yes we all get older, and its funny you say that because it doesn't feel that different just a number and something that naturally happens in life. But this poem was written very well describing it. Nice job! :)

This first part is sad but true. We do get older and the memories "fade" but new ones DO come which gives us hope!! :)

Yes I know what you mean. Sometimes just wanting to be left alone in our own thoughts is what we need but that's what family and friends are for! To celebrate the amazing birth of YOU! :)

Yes, every birthday now seems like it is a bad day. It means that we are getting older and nearly the "older" years of our life but we have to be excited and ENJOY every year even though it is hard sometimes! :)

I love the ending even though it is a bit "sad" but we have to cherish every day! Live it to the fullest and remember the amazing memories that we do have! You are an awesome person and the best PBFF!! :) Keep up the good work and SMILE! :)
