Darkness at the end of the tunnel

by TheDarkCloudBehindthePoet   Sep 2, 2011

As he walks into the valley with a shadow of death,
He fears no man or creature,
The only one he fears is himself,

It has been a long time coming down this road,
As he trudges slowly and gently do the narrow path,
He has had much time to think to himself,
Is this what he really wants,
Is this what his life has come to,
His mind says yes,
His heart is unclear,
His body his torn to shreds,
It is time to end this journey and start a new,

He looks back to the good times he had,
Seeing the birth of his daughter,
His one and only love kissing him,
The first house he bought for his new family,
Then he thinks of the bad times,
His teenage daughter addicted to Meth,
The love of his life cheating on him,
His house in foreclosure,
His life falling apart in front of his eyes,

He is not strong enough,
He has tried a psychologist,
He has talked to his friends,
He has asked for the aid of his family,
All failures and he views his life as a failure,

He starts to cut himself to ease the pain but that fails,
I tries driving off the road but he survives,
He attempted to shoot himself in the head but missed,
He feels that God can not even save him,
He has thought long and hard about this decision,
He is going to end it once and for all,

No more trials and tribulations,
No more custody battles,
No more letting your family down,
No more pain,
No more stress,
No more cubical jobs,
He just wants to die,

Out from his trench coat is a rope already fit for his neck,
He finds high beam to wrap it around and a stool to stand,
Looking at all his accomplishments and failures one last time,
He cries a single tear,
With his finally breath he says, "Mother forgive me",
His eye sight turns black,
The curtain closes,

    Wow Chris,
This is a breath taking poem.
I loved every last piece of it.

Out from his trench coat is a rope already fit for his neck,
He finds high beam to wrap it around and a stool to stand,
Looking at all his accomplishments and failures one last time,
    He cries a single tear,
With his finally breath he says, "Mother forgive me",

    The curtain closes,

This is filled with such strong emotion, as you say goodbye to your mom, a single tear down your cheek.
    Effing Amazing :).
