Never knew,never knew

by Yakari Gabriel   Sep 7, 2011

I always knew that
the sun would desert
the sky at a certain point

Yet,
I never expected
The moon so soon.

I never thought
life would become
so meaning-less
kind of like a bee-less
Garden with me as
the flower
that served no purpose
sitting there..
so comely.

I sometimes hesitate
the same way a mother bird would..
when she comes home to an
empty nest..
wondering where all
I worked for went...

I often knew some things
were meant to be overlooked
yet never imagined
my love for you
to be one of them.

"so comely." Should this be calmly? I'm not reading this right. lol

I love this poem, Yaki. So sad and touching! I really like the beginning, the sun 'desert'ing the sky. As if you knew heartbreak was going to happen someday, you just didn't expect the grief to overwhelm you as quickly as it did. Love the moon/soon bit, it had a nice play on lips.

I like the slight repetition of yet, I .... I thought that was important here. Also love your title, and how you have it repeated. I think it adds something extra to the poem that wouldn't have the same affect otherwise. :)

I believe this should be "worked":)

The ending just blew me away, Yaki.
    Good write. :)
