One Moment

One Moment
By Mark Spencer

I've had my share of thrills and spills,
And spitting in death's eye.
I've laughed and danced into the night,
I've even touched the sky.

But moments always come and go,
They never seem to last.
What we have within the present,
Will soon become the past.

Each moment is a grain of sand,
From bulb to bulb they pass,
They flow like water through the neck
Of your life's hourglass.

But often, there's a single grain
That stands above the rest.
A moment that your heart of hearts
Declares the very best.

And if I could freeze one moment,
For all eternity,
It would be the moment after,
You shared your vows with me.

For that was my finest moment,
That instant from my life.
The greatest joy I've ever known:
When you became my wife.

No grain of sand has ever matched
The happiness I knew,
That special moment when I heard
Your trembling "I do".

If paradise could be contained
Inside a grain of sand,
And one moment could be frozen,
And held within God's hand,

That moment would be my heaven,
My paradise, sublime,
If kingdom come could be defined
By one moment in time.
