I'm sorry...

by Matthew Schut   Sep 16, 2011

Your smile brightens my every day
Your words speak to my soul
You are the most beautiful girl
You honestly make me whole

As my heart races and my head spins
Baby, please come and sit down
I have a few things I need to say
As my smile turns into a frown

"You know I love you with all my heart"
He whispers with tears in his eyes
"But I don't think I will ever be ready"
Her heart shattered as she cries

"I don't understand, how could this be,
I thought everything was so perfect"
He says, "I've guarded myself from everyone"
Thinking back, he begins to reflect

"I wish there was something I could do,
you are honestly the most perfect girl,
but I also want to be fair to you,
so you can find the perfect one in this world."

She cries and said she had to leave
Says goodbye and walks out the door
He stands empty and broken inside
Realizing he doesn't have his heart anymore...

I don't think I've read a more powerful and intense poem. This was filled with a gambit of emotion and pain. Well penned, awesome flow. Excellent
