Mortal Sin

by Jack Nightengale   Sep 17, 2011

Bright orange and red flames arose,
As I incinerated everything that was composed.
Watching as it all came crumbling down,
I did it wingless while I was chained and bound.

Locked out and away from her reach,
No excuses, I can save the sappy speech.
Away from her castle with an open throne,
A jester took it all, and now I'm left alone.

Taking beatings, and bruisings,
Knowing that her heart is what I'm losing.
No longer immortal, broken bones and torn skin,
Accepting the consequence of my mortal sin.

Your poems have depth and intensity that few have. But there are times that what builds inside must come out.
