Rock Bottom

by Jack Nightengale   Sep 17, 2011

Sleepless nights, restless days
Hardly breathing, barely alive
Working to music, break when the chorus plays
Still awake during the weekend, drinking in the morning because somewhere in the world it's five.

Train the body, and train these troops
No time for games, no more jumping through hoops
Craft this coffin, take this hammer to drive the nails in
It all begins in the mind but, in the heart is where it all ends.

Ball and chain, wrapped around my heart
Death's been at my heels, from the very start
Cold, Icy hands pulling, squeezing, choking my soul
Slowly dragging me further into this black hole.

Colder and darker the deeper I go down
Chained and shackled, keeping me bound to the ground
Surgery failed, heart beats out of control
On this bus ride, Rock Bottom is the last stop for this Lost Soul.
