This box of you...

by Matthew Schut   Sep 21, 2011

I dust off this box that sits in the corner
It's the first time I can actually open it
These letters that used to mean so much
Now no feelings, I must admit

I open the letters to see what they say
Endless times you say I love you
Mentioning how I was so perfect
And filled with feelings too

As I flip through the pieces
That I held onto for so long
Different places we went to
And how our love was strong

Receipts from the movies
Love notes sitting in class
A few cuddly bears
And a heart made of glass

I look at the beautiful heart
So perfectly held together
My heart used to be this way
Now it's shattered forever

I found the ring I had for you
A tear rolls down from my eye
I light a match and burn the box
This is my last and final goodbye...

Wow, Cupcake.. That was... So powerful and just so... Unbelievably perfect to describe how one box can do that... It's just so... Wow... Superb job.

You penned sadness to the peak of perfection and yet resolve of how things are now. Your last stanza made me catch my breath the image and emotion was so clear. An amazing work of art

Wow! This is so wonderful. The emotion is definatly here, fully and used very well. The choice of words is clear and fits the piece well. There is an obvious story present that is amazing. Your descriptions are fantastic. The length of this piece is nice. Great job with the flow. I am also putting this on my favorites list, but I wish I had some weekly votes left. Anyway I gave this a 5/5 excellent piece.
