The brilliance of the night beheld my gaze
As I starred out my window completely dazed
The full moon glistening so intensely and bright
Captivated was I by the stars glorious light
When behold I saw a nightingale
A beautiful creature, intricate and frail
To my windowsill Nature's treasure did fly
Though small, her presence did catch mine eye
She ventured closer, a dangerous plight
My curious mind enthralled by her sight
Then my sweet nightingale began her chant
A tune so breathtaking, it touched where no man can't
For my soul did yearn to fly on high
To touch the notes my nightingale gave by
A sweet grieving melody she brought to life
A song to comfort any mourning wife
Or perhaps she sung to touch the anguished heart?
I may not know, yet still stood I to hear my part
To hope that my nightingale's song can make me whole
And heal my sorrowful heart from all of its holes
Nature's beautiful design came to me,
In a time of need she kind fully decreed
Her enchanting song that touched my soul
And lifted this heavy heart from its grueling toll
My heart lifted to the heavens on high
My soul did give a praising cry
My adored nightingale life did bring
My heart and my soul can now gladly sing
But now the end was drawing near
Her song will I forever hold dear
My beloved nightingale entered my palms
Her last notes a soothing balm
That brought relief to this tarnished being
No longer will this heart be bleeding
For though my dear friend took of to the sky
Alas I was able to give my good-byes
Again I stare at Nature's marvelous night
That has given me such a wondrous delight
To have blessed me with such a pleasant gift
My sweet nightingale that may the heavens lift
