Your heart

by curtis kotrch the silent tears of of my heart   Sep 26, 2011

Your heart was once mine

i cherished it as if it were gold

i never let anyone hurt it

if they tried they would always slowly die from my hands

your heart i carried with me in Iraq and Afghanistan

as you held my hand you took your last breaths of life

you let go and i start to cry unable to comprehend

why you and your heart are gone.
