The lottery lady

by Yakari Gabriel   Sep 27, 2011

Today,
a customer came in..

"give me thirteen-ninety-five
match it with the zodiac Leo"

he said..

and she chuckled shyly,
as a faint shade of red
placed itself on both of her cheeks..

"what so funny?"
he asked,

she faltered,
and for a second
believed that she
should tell him

That he had just invested
his money on a number
that matches
the birth date of a heart breaker

and matched it with the Zodiac,
that does not match her own..

she could have told him,
that those numbers pierced her
soul and made her shiver..

But instead she said,

"nothing"

gave him his ticket
and whispered

"Good luck,sir"

knowing the rest of
her day,

had already changed course.

Do you know what I love the most about this poem ? I love that you shared a story that you wont believe how many people could relate to, aint just about the lottery, but coincidences !

such an irony, and inddeeeeddd that would be the reply of a woman whos day has changed after such an incident, i love the stanza where you described her red cheeks, very very original! well done

amazing poem, i really do love it..
