Somewhere between sleep and dawn
you were with me for a while.
I have so missed your sense of humor,
the touch of mischief in your smile.
We embraced beneath a sky so clear,
I could view the planets far.
When you left, there were no clouds above
but raindrops fell from stars.
Somewhere between waking and a thought,
I saw your face so clear.
When I realized t'was but a dream,
like my joy, it disappeared.
I saw raindrops on my window
upon rising from my bed.
Somewhere between a tear and a smile.
I understood the words you said.
