Observing in the Park

10-5-11

As I sit here
On a bench in the park
I look around at everything
Including the trees sewn up with bark.

They tower above me
Shading the very spot I sit
Making it very peaceful
Not ever wanting the day to quit.

Bicyclists speed by on the path
And kids play 'til their hearts content
Laughing and screaming
Then off on a chase they went.

The Spearfish creek behind me
Makes a smooth, calming sound
As it rushes downstream
To a lake that has yet to be found.

The squirrels, ducks, and birds
Go about their life
Pecking at whatever food they find
To survive the next generation of life.

Loving couples walk through the park
Some with baby's just learning to walk
Capturing the moments with photographs
Soothing the infant with a calming talk.

So many things happen in life
And very little people notice at all
I wish they took the time to look
At the world during this sunny day in the fall.

Maybe one day everyone will see
The joy that surrounds this place
Just close your eyes and open your ears
Try to listen and slow down lifes race.
