Ten Miles To Town

by believeinlove87   Oct 10, 2011

Ten miles to town,
sitting in the back of the old pickup truck,
moving around at every bump,
the rugid old tires screeching on the dirt road,
laughing with her friends,
taking in the fresh air.

Finally, arriving at the corner lot,
jumping out barely missing the corner of the truck,
running into his arms,
swinging around in the air,
grabbing his face,
she says "I've missed you baby."

Getting in the car,
going out to the old fairgrounds,
laying on the hood of his truck,
hands intertwined, head on his chest,
counting the fireflies,
making a wish on the shooting star.

Ten miles into town,
down that old bumpy dirt road,
to be in the arms of the one she loves,
playing tag your it, hide & go seek,
giggling till her stomach hurts,
saying " Hey Buddy, I Love You,"
as she tackles him to the ground.

Young & In love,
on the hood of his pickup truck,
looking into each others eyes,
counting the fiery fireflies,
planning out their future together,
sealing it with a kiss,
never thinking she'd find love in this old town.
