Void.

My eyes are of poison ivy,
itching 'til I can no longer see -
for they are as dull as an
unsharpened pencil -
thoughts trailing like a rash
of a thousand infected poems,
which now hold no meaning.

It's really funny because I didn't get the proper meaning of this until reading the above comments. When I first read it, it sounded like a poem describing the aftermath of a social/romantic conflict. The kind that leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.

But now that is not so! Haha, how interesting it is to see that my interpretation was wrong. Although I do still feel that this poem could represent an ordeal like that perfectly.

Regardless, I love the thought put into this. Comparing fatigue to the irritation brought on by poison ivy is surely a clever one. Tossing the image of the pencil in, the pencil that has been made dull by endless writing, was a great idea. I specifically like the ending...it is broad - all encompassing - and yet so specific at the same time!

    Bravo. Wouldn't change a thing! :D

I can feel the void you're trying to portray.
    It's really obvious, and I like... :)
