Lonely hearts

by Jasmine   Oct 14, 2011

Unaware of how they grew so empty,
All the while, it's them who tend to be most friendly.
Children should be care-free, happy & brave,
not stuck behind white walls, searching for something to save.
Help can be given, though you must be there to take,
It's we who are strong enough to find mends to make.
These people aren't crazy, just some kind of lost,
searching for salvation, whatever the cost.
Away from their families, friends & their homes.
That is, those lucky enough with something to call their own.
The others left struggling, scared & alone,
this becomes their family, home, comfort zone.
Different types of people, gender, age, & race
being surrounded by them, my life becomes easier to face.
We're all here for our own reasons, whatever they may be,
but embarrassed, no longer, as others begin to see.
All from different areas, but together we've become
brought here by fault, fitting together, as one.

* i realize it's against the rules since i have to testify otherwise, but this is NOT my own original work. it was a gift from a friend of mine, but i thought it should be shared. it's also here so if i lose it on paper i won't lose it completely. i plan to leave this persons identity anonymous.
