One: a Village

by Larry Chamberlin   Oct 17, 2011

I've served my time entrusted
with raising children and their friends.
Takes a village? Yes, and even more:
it takes being a whole village yourself
just to keep up with one day's new
deviousness while kidding yourself
that you're a step ahead though you
can't even understand their jargon
without the online urban dictionary.

Unless someone has been here, the spot you are writing from, they could never in a million years understand. I loved the seriousness of thes lines. I would have liked to see this poem end on a more serious note but still your ending was superb and left me with a smile because I can so relate to what you have written.

Very much enjoyed reading, as always

This is so true. I love the powerful beginning and unless one has been here, they can nbever understand!
