Damaged

by Lioness   Oct 21, 2011

Damaged. That is what you have made me
Broken, for I know that your bitter love for me flows in my veins
I begin to change

Sickening. Just the thought of you numbs my soul
Your existence is poisoning my blood
Now, I am impure at best

Haunted. My every move is magnified
One thousand times;
to satisfy your craving for me

Suffocating. Your attraction to me unnatural
No choice but to surrender;
for you, depression, have taken my life completely

    Oh Liz,

    Sometimes you make me cry when I really need to, this poem did just that, I could understand every thing you said here,

    I hate this depression that controls me, it makes me a monster, a shadow of myself, it pulls at the skin and hurts like hell.

    The flow made the emotion all the more powerful, the weakness in the words but the strength in the pain was amazing,
    I cannot control how much this poem really made me feel.

    You are a goddess of words,

    love xxx

    Wow, emotion paints the imagery and the imagery strengthens the emotion. I say word choice is essential in poetry and this is a wonderful example of word choice defining the piece. The word choice here was excellent for this particular piece because it created intrigue and tone and laced the emotion into the piece. 5/5
