Only You Hold the Key

by Ashleigh Skye   Oct 22, 2011

Running through the dark,
my lips holding back your name,
words they burn but do not escape,
for the sweetness my body can't claim.

The echo of our memories,
still linger in the air around,
the sparkle of your smile brings me up,
while the present brings me crashing back down.

The scars still linger on my heart,
as my brain screams out to defend,
the mater of fantastic misery,
a job description that will never end.

The neon signs that we were in trouble,
couldn't break down the wall I had made,
so I thrash and I beat on my prison cell,
leaving my body beaten and frayed.
