The pages turn in silence
as one light shines hopefully from above
trying to burn the words
and blur them out of existence.
Another heat infusion
got clouds of steam
wafting around the pages hot to touch
but the words wont seem to melt
not even a single droplet
they stay
etched into the pages of the book
forever determined not to break
as the light flickers
then dies
a challenge once taken
now failed
as the words stay
etched on this once pure page.
