Not about Sleeping

by Sunshine   Oct 22, 2011

I'm sleeping for this chance
though I am afraid of
befriending images
while sinking in slumber,
for dreams always creep.

It's chocking me when I wake
up walking in circles where
you aren't waiting for me,
and I know you won't realize
the doubt that's chucking me.

It's rolling around my bed like
a homeless shadow that finds
comfort in my heart. For fear
has always found a habitat
inside me.

Yet, I'm still planning to close
my eyes over again for possibility,
I will sleep
even though dreams can be
truly...truly deep.

Awww this poem was so deep and raw... I loved every word. I loved the idea of being afraid to sleep, and the way you painted this picture was brilliant. I lovedddd this stanza:

"It's rolling around my bed like
    a homeless shadow that finds
comfort in my heart. For fear
    has always found a habitat
    inside me."

Amazing!!! and the ending was perfect - no one could have written it better! Well done hon!

Btw in stanza 2 - did you mean "choking" .. I just wanted to check :)
