Ode to A Heartbreaker

by Poetically understood   Oct 23, 2011

I guess it starts again
You're a real a heartbreak kid
You found another heart to play with
But my pain you never undid.

She's new, naive, and young
She'll never see through your ways,
How she's just another pawn
Just a puzzle piece in your games.

You'll play her like you did me
In attempt to get what you desire
But truthfully do you even know
What you wish to acquire?

Is it love or is it lust?
Is it even something mundane?
Is it the thrill of getting your way?
Or do you just enjoy causing pain?

She'll look at you as I did
So in love and beguiled,
That's when you'll lose interest
And become distant and riled.

You'll break her heart in two
But to you it won't ever matter,
At least she's better off than me
At least you didn't leave her shattered.

I guess I'll suffer seeing you do it again,
Pretending to love and breaking hearts to win.
Whatever satisfaction you may possibly get,
Doesn't seem like one you'll ever regret.
