Tyrannosaurus Tyrant

by HOLLY ARMER   Oct 24, 2011

Tyrannosaurus Tyrant
is what he should be called
I'd make a funny joke
about him being bald

But he's a big ole meanie
without a funny bone
who eats his meaty breakfast
while sitting all alone

Perhaps it's 'cause his arms
are just almost not there
that makes him think he's got
to sit and gawk and stare

But I would be his friend
no matter his arms or size
And I'd look past that anger
that rests there in his eyes

Maybe I'll just hug him
and hope it comes out fine
Crossing all my fingers
that it's not on me he'll dine

I saunter over quickly
confidence my only friend
Hoping in his stomach
is not where I will end

As I get much closer
I can see that he is shy
I briskly walk up to him
and meagerly say hi

He offers me his hand
that's on his little arm
looks me in the eye
and I see he means no harm

So now he's good ole Ty
I dropped the Tyrant part
and we are forever besties
two dino's heart to heart

I have to admit that I actually expected to read something else after recognizing the title, but I am really happy to find this. Your poems flows smoothly and the rhymes feel natural too. I think you described that person in an interesting way, I cannot tell whether it's fitting, but it definately feel true. I absolutely enjoyed reading this poem.
