A Prayer for those...

by Lioness   Oct 25, 2011

I dedicate this prayer to those with no voice,
whom live within violence -
not by their choice

A prayer to those who are casualties of war
innocent blood spilled -
the rich and the poor

Our four legged friends we simply adore
are victims of abuse -
animal cruelty and more

To the woman and children all over the earth
patronized and shamed -
told their less than they're worth

Those who are judged for being a female
dishonoured and hated -
unlike the males

To those who's skin does not reflect our own
criticized and cast out -
and are left all alone

Here's the thing lord, I've got much more to say
I pray that this hatred will all go away

I'm not ashamed of being a girl -
or Lebanese
or Big
or part of this world

I don't see the point in having a war
or taking a life;
see killing -
IT'S WRONG
People who think that somehow it's fun?

I don't really care what skin colour I am
(except when I'm burnt from being in the sun)
Or the colour that my friends happen to be
I'm not here to be cruel lord, see that's just not me
White, black or blue I don't really care -
the skin colour doesn't really show me what's there

I don't like being judged, so I won't judge someone else
I won't measure their happiness through their house, car or wealth

I won't try to change someone but accept who they are
I'll be gentle and kind lord, just like you are

I don't want to rage or be jealous at all
Even though I am short and there are others that are tall
I'll look up and admire them with a smile and all

Please lord I know I have given this thought
I hope this prayer reaches those who weren't taught

Indeed, amazing thoughts. They speak on behalf of almost every person.. the message was delivered, awesomely.

Very beautiful thoughts, a prayer for the neglected, downtrodden, deprived, racially discriminated, the social outcasts, casualties of war, our animal friends, and more...

The compassion expressed here is certainly from the mirror of a noble soul.

I loved that because it showed an important part of you, I haven't talked to you, as yet, still I feel you are a kind person, because of this piece, you care about lives taken with force and about animals, as I read on your profile, that's something I rarely find in people. I admire it, however.
You kept your language simple throughout the poem, liked the style and the 'fair' tone you were talking with.

Just a minor thing, dear Lioness. The title didn't stand out to me, I mean, it is relevant, and it has no grammatical error or anything, it's just...it wasn't that eye-catchy, and if this poem wasn't you recent one I wouldn't really be that interested to read it. I don't want to sound rude, I want to be honest, so that you can know what your work really means to the reader. :)

Nevertheless, the poem was really meaningful, I liked almost everything, good poetry.

I LOVED this! Something that is much more common then most people realize. And I'm so sad that I myself see a lot of it. Many people will say they don't care but in some small way they do, so this prayer really hit home for me. This isn't something to many people will write about so I'm really glad you did. I just wish more people had that attitude. Another great piece. 5/5

    Hey Jenna,

Thanks for your comments and vote!

    Always appreciated x

I never thought about spaces but I will see how it looks with them.

It's great because sometimes you can't see what others can

    Thanks heaps
