We Weren't Meant to Last

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Oct 29, 2011

Take a knife
rip out my heart
it soon won't be mine
since I'm tearing apart

a broken thought of happiness
uncompleted trace of unwanted love
and if I could love him less
somehow his love is enough

who am I to destroy his heart
and tell him we're better off friends
if I never lived, why start
only to take the life from him

who am I to confess
that we're better off not together
why break off a piece when there's the rest
the thought that I'll morbid forever

I can't stand the sight of you
the scent of you makes me frown
but yesterday, all I would do
was love your harmonic sound

thinking of you would be foolish
I'd remember every detail of the current past
dream of you, why do this
if we weren't meant to last
