Halloween

by Something Diabolical   Oct 30, 2011

Once again its that time of year
When eager children seem to appear
Upon the doorsteps of every house
Searching for candy to put in their mouths

But beware of the monster that preys in the streets
An unknown being awaiting the feast
It catches children searching for sweets
Especially those dressed up like beasts

The unknown was born on old hallows eve
From darkness and hate this beast was conceived
It stalks its prey hiding in night
Waiting for children to move out of sight

With eyes glowing red and claws sharp as knifes
Scared little children run for their lives
Every year a child goes missing
Lost to the darkness the beast is emitting

Some say the children just lose their way
Turning up home just after a day
Never quite right, the children do seem
Explaining the thoughts of a terrible dream

The truth is the monster is inside their heads
Waiting for families to go to their beds
Then in instant this beast kills its prey
Waiting again for that old hallowed day

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

I truly enjoy the read of this piece, you were on control of the rhymes and of the story. I really liked it. The monsters in one's heads, in Halloween. Lol It's a nightmare.
The rhymes made me smile. Keep up the great work.

Imagery is really in-depth and amazingly descriptive. The words evolving into metaphors and very strong flowing sentence are the key to this piece. Enjoyed the read very much so. 5/5
