Emperors Way, Act 1

by Lee   Oct 30, 2011

In Tamriel, a land of green,
is where this tale begins
A tale of bitter interlopers,
a breach of divine sins...

Act 1, from farmers boy to prince

A young man looked upon the night
a hole was in his heart,
he looked for that which fills this hole,
and took to forms of art

Regal, he did seem that night
he stood alone and proud.
but he was just an farmers boy,
soul hidden under shroud.

He knew inside there was much more,
to life than he had seen.
the silent wonder of the night,
was sundered with a scream.

He ran and ran towards the sound,
and though he'd come too late.
there was a token on the ground,
himself he doth berate.

After time he heard a voice,
which whispered on the wind.
"the one you heard is near at hand,
her name is Evaline".

This seemed to him to be absurd,
for the wind, it has no voice.
He sat and thought, it seemed to him
that now he had a choice.

All at once there came a sound,
this time horses hooves,
his heart did race, his mind was made
he had to make a move.

He followed hoof sound willingly,
on t'other side of hedge
for near an hour he did walk
as if he'd made a pledge

A space did open in the bush
in which rider did appear,
He was a man in black chain-mail
the colour of his fear

and there he saw her, out of mind
sleeping, she could have been
over rump of dark-mans' horse
as fair as fair could be

And so he sought his own resolve
and thence he made his move
he called out sharp and dark-man turned
and asked to be excused

'Excuse me boy, for you should mind
the business you interrupt'
The dark-man thought he'd seen him off
went on his way abrupt.

Our hero then took up a stick,
some deadwood from a tree.
he swung it round and yelled again,
he hoped to set her free.

The dark-man turned and looked and laughed,
he thought he'd have some fun.
while drawing blade the boy did charge,
he struck the dark-man stun'd.

The dark-man yelled with sheer surprise,
he slipped and fell from mount.
he stumbled, then fell down a slope,
his own blade did surmount.

And so the boy did save the girl
she wondered where she was
as memories came flooding back
she wondered who he was

And out of pocket, he did bring,
the token that she'd dropped
he looked into her hazel eyes
and swore his heart had stopped

And so in flight of fancy here
it turned out she was royal.
and seeing him with majesty
instead of lifelong toil.

And so the boy was made a prince,
and moved far from his work
he spent is life in luxury
and wore a gold hauberk

And for this boy is yet unnamed
he saved her, so accept him
for this is just beginning of
the tale of tiber septim.

Act 2 to follow..

I like the time and effort you put into this, I like epic poetry because it has a story woven in with imagery in few words, so each word has to hold more weight then a normal long drawn out story. Keep it up!
