Black Tears

What happens when a girl gets pretty
for her boyfriend on a Saturday night
well, from my own experience
there will be black tears to cry

either the boyfriend was in the act
or just preparing to tell a girl yes
he turns to see you running
follows you to say it was a moment of weakness

you may think to forgive him
like I wanted to badly
but you change your mind quickly
and turn away to leave like me

the black tears stain your pretty face
heart's breaking every step away from him
I, too, wanted to run back
but then you know he'll win

so you forget to forgive
a surprise sure happened that night
we both feel stupid for loving him
at least you know now that I was right
