The Goddess

by lonelynow   Oct 31, 2011

Beauty sat at my table
Picked up, put down
Her knife and fork
She said, learn from me,
I will teach you
She smiled and I fell.

Beauty left, but she sent to me
A sister, to be my master
And in my love I consumed what she gave me
Quod me nutrit, me destruit, Beauty,
I ate of myself to eat of you
And the taste was bitter.

Your sister had no name, Beauty,
But she bore your resemblance
Your sister gave me love, Beauty,
That burnt across my skin
I looked at your chair, empty
I looked for you in the mirror that you gave me.

It's been a long time, Beauty,
But I do not forget.
Your sister is cruel, Beauty,
And I cannot see you anywhere
In the sheen that glimmers on vomit;
In my decaying body.

You touched me so softly
It was almost a dream
Swept your fingers across the breasts,
The thighs, that she pinches.
I think I see you in the stars, Beauty,
But that is not where I have been taught to look.
