A hooded figure in disguise (Story)

by WTMNIS   Nov 1, 2011

It seems the story began with the oozing of water from the tap as the enigmatic woman sluiced her body while showering one early winter morning, her body wash smelt of honey and lemongrass,
and her shampoo was the kind that children use. On this particular day she had thwarted her young son from joining her as he usually does, for some well earned rest was needed after the heavy weekend.
Well this woman who many simply called Jo was just finishing off in the shower when she heard an almighty wallop coming from the hall, followed immediately with the intense screams from her 4 year old Son Adam, with worry and in haste Jo ran from the bathroom to see her son literally vanish before her eyes, Poof, out of nowhere he just simply disappeared.
Jo, rubbed her eyes and looked again, surely she couldn't be imagining this, she has heard the bang and the scream and had seen him at the bottom of the staircase. She was slightly bewildered at first and then become a state of panic, was this magic she had seen, a dream, or was he a ghost, this seemed out of the ordinary. Surely her son was not a ghost, she had given birth to him had she not?
This was egregious to say the least, bemused and frightened Jo picked up the phone still naked from exiting the shower in haste, and dialled her sister, she knew what to do
"Hello" came the reply on the receiver
"Jen, Jen, Adam's gone, I was in the shower, I heard a bang and him screaming, he was on the floor and then he vanished, like he isn't here" Jo rambled on the phone
"Calm down, What do you mean he vanished", Jen questioned
"He was there one minute and gone the next, what is happeneing, where is Adam?"
"i'm coming over, look everywhere, maybe he ran off or something, he can't just disappear".
Jo, put the receiver down and took a deep breath, she called out for Adam, "Ade, Adam, sweetie, Are you okay? Where are you?"
Jo really needed Jen to hurry up for it would behoove her to have a calmer mind, she was still really frightened, and couldn't find Adam anywhere.
She looked inside the cupboard under the stairs for this was where the towels and duvets were kept, and it would be very cosy in here if Adam was upset or scared, but she couldn't hear him crying and when she opened the cupboard, there was no young boy hiding in there.
She thought he may have gone into the kitchen for his favourite food of Noodles but the pantry was bare and no child was found,
Just then the doorbell rang, expecting it to be Jen, she opened the door and there stood...

A hooded figure, tall and with a moustache and long silver hair, he reached out and touched her and said
"We have Adam"...
