Better People

Taking time to look at the little things
Reading the tiny footnotes
Looking into someone's eyes a little longer
Noticing that they're not so remote

Going to visit the little puppies
At the humane society
Giving a little extra money to the poor
Making a small child feel mighty

Seeing someone crying
Outside the back of the building
Instead of walking away
Go over and care about their feelings

Talking to someone
That has just been rejected
Boosting their self esteem
Try to help their heart be mended

Visit the cancer patients
At the hospital
The retirement home or orphanage
Make them feel that their lives aren't dull

Buy a homeless man some lunch
Try not to take the Lord's name in vane
Read to toddlers at a preschool
Don't J-Walk through that lane

Don't drink as much coffee
Or smoke that cigarette
Have pity on your son or daughter
Don't place too many bets

Try to be the best person
That you can possibly be
Maybe then the world won't be so hateful
We'll all live in harmony
