Car Crash

by Alicia   Jun 24, 2004

My best friend had just gotten her driver's license.
That was so very cool.
She could not wait to take me
Somewhere after school.
I will take you to the mall,
Or wherever you want to go.
The day is for you and me
I will drive you through this snow!
She picked me up at my house about seven.
It was already dark outside.
I got into the passengers seat
And she smiled really wide.
So, she said,
Where is it you want to go?
I said the mall would be fine
And off we went into the snow.
She got on the highway
Her favorite song came on
She just started singing along.
I did not have a smile on my face,
So she asked me what was wrong.
I told her that I did not like her doing drugs
And that she was throwing away her life
I told her that seeing her do those things
Pierced my heart with a knife.
She said it was not that bad
And not to worry.
I told her to pull over,
Since we couldn't see through all the flurries.
It was a bad excuse to just talk,
But it really did come true.
Suddenly as we were turning off the road,
A bus came and does what a car crash will do to you.
It bashed into her side.
I passed out and woke up in a hospital
Feeling very mystified.
I wanted to know how she was!
I had to know what was going on!
Then suddenly a figure emerged,
I saw that it was her mom.
The moment i heard that she had died,
I sat and we cried and we cried.
I was just trying to help her get her life back,
But i ended up taking it away when we were having a fight.
In my dreams and in my nightmares,
I always imagine that night.
I miss her so much
I'm always told not to feel this guilt
But when i think about it being my fault,
My stomach starts to wilt
But i feel her soul within me.
Especially through all our memories and pictures.
All i know is that she'll always be with me,
And that i will hopefully always be with her.
