Hold On

by Alicia   Jun 24, 2004

The song you sing is so beautiful
It makes me feel like crying
The music is so melodious
But the lyrics are about us dying

It makes me feel like someone cares
Like someone understands
I am so sick and tired
Of being left with empty hands

A love song it does contain
But with harsh words and expression
It makes me feel uplifted
But also overcome with depression

These things they sing
Are all too real
A picture of
How a heartbreak feels

Tickling the ivory
And your soft voice
But with electric chord power
Both my choice

It sounds so sad
The person is looking back
At memories
He wishes he still had

Letting go
Of things inside
Letting show
The things we would normally hide

Getting lost in the music,
The voice
Loving every minute
Of this comforting noise

The song it sings a special story
Of love that was once but then lost
How true love is forever
But takes a certain cost:

Promising love to someone he once knew
Someone he once cared for
Wanting her back so badly
He can't think of something he could ever want more

Asking for forgiveness
Wanting her back
Hoping to sweep her off her feet
Hoping not to be sacked

Whole body yearning in desire for his lost loved one
Remembering what he once had
Remembering the laughter, the smiles
Now covered with tears and regret

Losing the commitment completely
Slowly trying to forget what he once cared for most
She got up and she left
He did his best to get her back but now feels only his woes

Raindrops fall down on the window
Rain reminds him of tears
It is a comforting feeling
Looking back at the years

Never had he thought it would turn out this way
He couldn't figure out what had happened
She's gone and that's all he knows
The rain just keeps on tapping

Rain seems like one of the only things
That he knows will always come
It just keeps on dripping in different strokes
At least it comforts some

Looking out the rain dropped window
Staring in the distance
He wants to run out there and just sit
But his fatigue shows much resistance

So he lies there on his bed
Staring out the window
At the rain that will always come back
But knowing that she never will

At the same moment
She stared out the window of the plane
Heartbroken and in tears
She knows that he she shall never again gain

Raindrops fall down on the window
Rain reminds her of tears
It is a comforting feeling
Looking back at the years

She feels the plane start to rattle
She feels it start to take off
The horrible knot in her stomach
Thinking about all that was lost

She thinks about asking the pilot
To let her off now
But she keeps looking out the window
Hoping to see him running after her somehow

She does not see him, her heart falls
And just lets the plane take off
She leaves in pain, regret, and anger
She lets out a little cough

She looked out over the ocean
Thinking that she could fill that all in tears
She knew that they could never be together again
She felt a jolt of fear

She hated him for a moment
But then felt total remorse that she had to show
She loved him more than anything
But that he would never know

When he got the phone call the next morning
He wished that it would be her sweet voice
But instead it was a message of much hurting
He didn't know why he hadn't made the choice

Why hadn't he run after her?
Why hadn't he stopped that plane?
He felt her soul lifting in his arms
Why hadn't he kept from happening this horrible fate?

The fact that he could never get her back
Now had a final seal
The moments after he found out the plane had crashed
It was the worst anyone could feel

A song about lost love
That fills you up inside
Tears you feel as human compassion
Hurting you can't hide

You can't figure out why
This song effects you so
It just brings back your worst memories
Of when you hurt the most

But the beautiful piano
Meshing with the voice
Singing this tragic love song
Losing yourself in this noise

Hoping that one day
You'll find love that stays
But just praying
That it doesn't turn out a tragic way

Singing through the mayhem
Beyond the weeds is this rose
Giving this beautiful gift
To someone you love so they'll know

Next time your out
Or anywhere with this special person
You walk away from the crowd
As this special song comes on
And remember not to give up
And always hold on…
