Girl Made of Glass

by XxxWordsOfWisdomxxX   Nov 6, 2011

She's shiny
And new
So appealing
To you

A beautiful wonder
That glints in the light
Something to behold
With appraising sight

A gentle figure
Smooth to the touch
But this girl
She doesn't talk much

For, she's made of glass

Though
Thick is the glass she wears
As everyone comes
To point and stare

You can't see through
To the words never spoken
Her marks are glued so perfect
You'd never guess that she was broken

Soon the shine
Faded away
She woke up empty
Out of words to say

They left her

Shining beauty
You've become the past
Tell me dear
Why won't love last?

All the tears
Had built so high
She let loose
A scream to the sky

Hail started
To forcefully rain
While her heart chipped
She called out in pain

Though no one heard
Their backs were turned
The feeling of warmth
She so painfully yearned

With a final blow
From the merciless sky
The girl made of glass
Was left to die

  • This piece flowed and rhymed perfectly.
Your arrangement is somewhat unique and your choice of terminology, though simple, were effective.
It was a heartbreaking read, more so because it was relatable to some degree.
