Love shouldn't hurt

by Alodia   Nov 8, 2011

Love is a gift, straight from the heart.
Not to be toyed with or torn apart.
Love is to precious to be taken for granted;
The gift of a seed that is deeply planted.

Everyone has the ability to love,
Love shouldn't hurt, it comes from above.
Love is not stingy, greedy, or vain,
It isn't anger, jealousy, or pain.

Love is God's greatest gift to man,
Love shouldn't hurt, it's not in his plan.
God gave us this gift, he's the one,
That sent us Jesus~his only son.

Love shouldn't hurt, it wasn't meant to be,
And still we are blind~ we cannot see.
Jesus, our savior, who died for love,
The ultimate sacrifice from God above;

Hung on a cross before a crowd,
Still, he remained steadfast and proud.
Nails through his hands, nails through his feet,
Love shouldn't hurt, it cannot be beat

    ..really, i think the 3rd word in your 3rd line, was stretching at "too", than the reverse.., but, your craft, simply remains true and encouraging. Much enjoyed the read.

    I thought this was a really interesting poem. It didn't only flow smoothly, but even rhymed well. The message you convey is obvious and I agree to it, I just wonder whether you maybe put the poem in the wrong category, but I am not sure about that either so I would just keep it here unless someone else notices and maybe has a better idea where to place it.
