Today and Tomorrow

Today I remember
the first guy
I ever gave my heart to

I miss the great things
that love or
a good relationship
can bring

But when not true
or an abrupt stop comes
reality smacks you in the face
for the pain and hurt
surface bringing dark days

You're heart is broken
and can never be mended
ever again
for there has been no guy
to end the pain

They become distractions
but they only work for so long
and you are swamped
drowning
going insane
for their has been nothing but pain

It never really goes away
lingers inside the void
but we must keep hope
and believe

That one day
there will be a day
when true love comes your way
ends your suffering and pain

Growing old together
is all I ever wanted
I stand in belief
that he still waits for me

Until then
I live each day
fulfilling dreams

Today and tomorrow
it seems
one day longer
we will be
dreaming of our tree
and love is around the corner
just wait and see
