When my eyes are filled with tears
And in my heart there is no light
When my soul is shadowed by fears
Through my tears I see something bright
I see a friend smiling at me
I feel an arm embracing me
I feel the reassurance that I am loved
I feel once again that I am free
Then I know
I have seen God!
When I look at the deep deep blue sea
I see the waves rise and fall
I hear the grey clouds thunder and roar
I hear the peahen's bashful call
I go to the temple I go to the church
I go to the mosque and bow my head
I watch the sun set amid crimson hues
I imbibe in my being all the shades of red
Then I know
I have seen God!
When I am happy, when I am in pain
When I lose, when I gain
When I indulge, when I refrain
When it is sunny, when there is rain
I see Him all around me
Again and again.
When I use words to express who I am
When I write and read and speak
And no one it seems, listens or cares
Slowly creeps in my veins despair
All of a sudden someone stands up and listens
All of a sudden I feel I am not alone
All of a sudden water bursts from a stone.
Then I know
I have seen God!
