You're such a
pampered star
chewing my space,
promising to lift me
up, yet all I can
feel is your inky
fingers pulling me
down,

down.

You just leave me
breathless.

I had a rough idea on the meaning of the title, but I cannot actually pronounce it, so was very relived not to find the word in the poem!

However, the shortness of the piece was in inspiring because I felt that it was just the right size, for all the things said and flowed well.

    "pampered star
    chewing my space"
Like Mera Luna, I loved the use of star in this way as it is a cliche word but you made it original,

    Fair dues to you girl
    once again, awesome piece

It seems that Abed knew what "Baccalaureate" meant, but I surely saw big questions marks in front of me when I read that word. =p So I googled it and I found this:

    bac·ca·lau·re·ate
    n.
    1. Bachelor's degree.
    2. A farewell address in the form of a sermon delivered to a graduating class.

^ Reading this, it really leaves me in awe how you can write such a symbolical piece based on this. Although I still can't be sure how the title and the poem are connected.

I enjoyed this short verse a lot. You usually write much longer pieces so this was new from me. You're surely able to create an impact, no matter how many words you use. I thought this was a very effective structure. I can truthfully say that you've managed your enjambment well here. And I lke the way you say "down" in one stanza and then repeat it on its own. It really goes "down" that way. =p

What attracted most of my attention was this phrase:
    "pampered star
    chewing my space"
^ Stars are everywhere used, and they do everything on poetry: they shut their eyes, they nod, they hide ... but never have I ever read that stars "chew". I really like that, for it's such a clever and negative way of saying that the stars are taking the space of the sky.

Also, when you say "promising to lift me up" I am reminded of how people always try to reach the stars. And their deceptive light do seem to promise us that we'll be able to touch them, yet we never will, and so that's why you're going down (thus falling). And perhaps that thing that's pulling you down is gravity.

    Nice poem.

Baccalaureate is so annoying! It really pulls us down.. to the bottomless pit! :S

It's an amazing tribute, Noura. Thank you for sharing.
