Mercy In The Dark

by GrimExpectations   Nov 14, 2011

The woods were still,
And the snow still fresh.
Trees like skeleton hands,
Clawing for the full moon.
My breath and steps,
The only sounds in the night.
Closer now to my special place,
I know she is there waiting for me.
Just over the next hill,
The gate to the necropolis.
Cold stones mark the ground,
Markers for the cold souls.
Names of those long forgotten,
Like whispers stuck in time.
Yet they are little concern to me.
She is waiting for me,
I must find her resting place.
The mausoleum of fate,
The cathedral of rot.
Guided by some unseen force,
I found her with ease.
My beloved before me,
Just as beautiful in death.
With a knife I cut my flesh,
And offer her my blood.
The drops shine like rubies,
against her pale skin.
May the moon be a witness,
To a true act of love.
As I start to fade,
I see her eyes open.
She lives once more,
A life for a life.
May she live again happily,
Yet never forget my gift.
Mercy in the dark,
Like a candle in the abyss.

Wow... This... This is just wow. You blew me away with your imagination! From the first line I loved the poem, it really is incredibly deep and very well written. I honestly say this has to be one of my favorite poems, VERY well done!

Wow! Intensely creepy but well thought out and written. I wonder what gave birth to this. Seems like an excerpt in a mystery novel. You have a striking imagination. This is awesome.
